Day 7

Yes, I know it's late. Work, snowstorm, and a 63-mile one-way commute don't make for a pleasant day. This is the snow piling up on my back porch railing:


Yes, I should have used a tripod, but it's late and I want to go to bed... I need to learn more about macro photography, though. I like what I've seen from other photogs. I hopw to be able to emulate a lot of that by the end of this year.

Day 6

Joy... When I went to upload this pic, I discovered that my webserver had crashed. AUGH!
So I had to post this one on Flickr:


That also explains why my pictures didn't show up when I checked the blog from work earlier today. It's gonna be a while before I can fix the computer.

Day 5

Ok, this time I wanted to get a bit artistic. This was taken right before my bowling league tonight:

I took another one in line with the ball returns, but when I looked at the picture a minute ago I thought the person walking back on a far lane messed up the shot.

Day 4

Ok, this is tougher than I thought. I almost forgot to POST a picture today...
This was one of the trees on a lumber truck at work:


I thought it was interesting because the snow reminded me of the layers of sediments on cliffs. When I just looked at the picture on my computer, I noticed all the cut marks on the tree itself. That means this one wasn't cut down by a huge logging machine. It was likely cut by one guy, with a chainsaw. You can tell where he had to re-position the saw to get through the tree. Weird I know, but I found it interesting.

Day 3

Just another example of an abandoned building in and around Detroit. I had heard for years that this had once been a bowling center. I don't remember ever seeing one there, and I've been going past it for at least 20 years. The marquee said "Esquire" until a few weeks ago. I think its last public use was a movie theater. A friend and I looked into buying the building(coincidentally for a bowling center) about 10 years ago, and the guy wanted too much. It had been abandoned for at least 5 years at THAT point. Last week I drove by and happened to notice the sign had changed. I think that high winds probably tore up the sign that was covering this up. Note the red and white part in the lower left of the sign - that's all that's left of the "Esquire" sign.

Day 2

Music is one of my passions. One of my goals is to record a Jazz CD in 2010. This is a shot of one of my bass guitars:


It's a Westone Quantum headless bass. I'm not even sure if it's being made anymore, but I like it. It will probably show up in a future picture as well. :-)

Project 365 Day 1

I've seen a couple of sites where people have a goal to take(or at least post) a picture for every day of the year, and it sounded interesting. So I figured I'd give it a shot as well. If I get more than half the days covered, I'll be happy. So now I just have to figure out how to attach photos to blog posts...



I have this one to remind me that I need to get in shape this year. I've had the bike for a few years, but haven't given it NEARLY the use I should.
